Maévie's primary sizing system is EU. All shoes are manufactured in Portugal to EU sizing standards. The MM column shows the corresponding foot length in millimetres - the most direct and accurate way to find your size.

EU 43 = UK 9 / US 10 / 276.5mm. Based on our Portuguese manufacturer's specification.
Always check the specific brand's size guide as conversions vary between brands.

EU 44 = UK 10 / US 11 / 283mm.

EU 45 = UK 11 / US 12 / 289.5mm.

EU 46 = UK 11.5 / US 12.5 / 296mm.

EU 47 = UK 12 / US 13 / 302.5mm. This is the largest size in Maévie's range.

EU sizing is based on Paris points - increments tied directly to foot length in millimetres. It is the most precise and consistent international system. Because Maévie is manufactured in Portugal, EU is our natural primary system. UK and US sizes are provided as conversions.

Because sizing is not globally standardised. Every brand builds its shoes on its own last, the mould that determines the shoe's internal shape. Two shoes both labelled EU 43 can fit very differently. This is why we provide the foot length in millimetres alongside every size. Measuring your foot in mm and comparing it to our size table is more reliable than going by your size in another brand.

Always size up. A shoe that is slightly larger is preferable to one that compresses your foot. If your foot length falls between two sizes in our table, choose the larger EU size. You can use an insole to adjust the fit.

Place a sheet of paper on the floor. Stand on it with your full weight on the foot. Trace around your foot slowly, keeping the pen upright. Mark the back of your foot and the tip of your longest toe this is not always the big toe. Measure from heel to that mark in millimetres. This is your foot length. Measure both feet and size for the larger one. Measure in the afternoon when feet are at their largest.

About Extended Sizing

Extended sizing refers to shoe sizes that go beyond the standard range most high street brands carry. For women's and girls' footwear, the mainstream market typically stops at EU 42 / UK 8. Extended sizing covers EU 43 and above, the range Maévie was built for.

No. Tall girls are more likely to need extended sizing because feet grow with height, and tall girls often reach larger sizes earlier, sometimes as young as 11 or 12. But foot size is also genetic. Plenty of girls of average height need extended sizing too. Maévie is for every teenage girl and young woman whose size the mainstream market doesn't reach, whatever the reason.

Completely normal. Feet often grow ahead of the
rest of the body in early adolescence. The frustration is not the size, it is
that the market has treated it as unusual when it isn't. Maévie treats extended
sizing as a standard design brief, because it is.

Because the footwear market was never designed with teenage girls in extended sizing as the primary customer. Children's shoe ranges stop around EU 38–39. The mainstream high street stops at EU 42 for fashionable styles. The brands that go bigger were designed for adult women, not teenagers. The industry never built the bridge between children's sizing and adult fashion for this age group. That is the gap Maévie exists to fill.

They describe the same reality from different angles. 'Shoes for big feet' is the language of the search, the frustrated phrase people type when the can't find their size. 'Extended sizing' is the language of design, it puts the responsibility where it belongs: the industry. The girl is not the problem. The market's sizing range is. Maévie fills that range.

School shoe ranges are built around average size distributions, and most manufacturers set their cut-off at the sizes most commonly needed. Girls in extended sizing, particularly those who reach these sizes earlier due to height or genetics, are simply not accounted for. It is one of the most consistent points of frustration for parents, and one of the most specific gaps Maévie is designed to address.

Absolutely. Maévie is for every teenage girl and young woman the mainstream market leaves behind. Tall girls are a significant part of our world because height and foot size are correlated, but extended sizing is also simply genetic for many girls. Both are equally Maévie's customer.

About the Brand

Teenage girls and young women who need extended sizing, EU 39 to 47 and have found the mainstream market doesn't reach them. Not adult shoes in bigger numbers. Footwear designed from the ground up for teenagers: their identity, their world.

Maévie was founded by Vanessa Boulanger-Twigg, a parent who spent years watching her daughter navigate a fashion landscape that simply didn't include her. Maévie is the brand that should have existed already, built by a parent, designed for a daughter.

Portugal. One of Europe's strongest footwear manufacturing traditions, precise EU sizing, quality materials, and skilled craftsmanship that has supplied major European fashion brands for generations. Manufacturing in Portugal means EU sizing accuracy from the source and quality built to last through a teenager's daily life.

Other brands offering extended sizing are brands for adult women. Their designs, aesthetics, and content speak to grown women. Maévie was designed from the beginning with a teenage girl as the primary customer, her world, her identity, her culture. That is a different thing entirely.
