Guide d'entretien et de réparation
Parce que parfois, un peu d'entretien suffit à donner une seconde vie à vos chaussures préférées !
The golden rules
Clean regularly
Wipe off dirt and dust after each wear to prevent long-term damage. Apply a quality shoe cream, neutral or colour-matched, to nourish the leather and restore its colour when needed.
Protect from water
Before wearing your shoes for the first time, spray them with
a water-repellent protector suited to the material. Reapply every few weeks or
after cleaning. Avoid wearing leather shoes in heavy rain, if they get wet,
stuff them with newspaper and let them dry naturally, away from direct heat.
Store properly
Store your shoes in their original dust bag or box to protect
them from dust and light. Use shoe trees to maintain their shape and absorb
moisture. Keep them in a cool, dry place, never in direct sunlight or damp
conditions.
Repair early
Don’t wait until the damage is severe. A worn heel tip or a
loose sole repaired early costs much less than full resoling later — and
extends the life of your shoes significantly.
Material Care
Patent leather
Wipe with a soft cloth regularly.
Leather
Clean regularly with a cloth, then apply a leather soft polish or cream in a circular motion. Avoid soaking or harsh detergents.
Suede & nubuck
Use a suede brush to remove surface dirt; always brush in one direction. For stains, use a suede eraser. Always protect with a suede-specific waterproof spray before first wear. Never use water or standard leather
products on suede.
Fabric & canvas
Spot clean with a soft brush, mild soap, and cool water. For stubborn marks, a gentle fabric stain remover works well; test on a hidden area first.

Repairs
A worn sole or a broken buckle doesn’t mean the end. Most damage can be fixed by a good cobbler, saving money, reducing waste, and keeping your favourite pair in your life longer.
What can be repaired
Soles: Full or half resoling extends shoe life by years.
Straps & buckles: Broken hardware can usually be replaced.
Colour restoration: Professional polish can usually refresh tired leather.

In many countries, most high streets have a key-cutting and shoe repair shop. In the UK, Timpsons is the most widely available chain.
When to repair vs replace
Repair when the upper is in good condition and only the sole, heel, or hardware is damaged. Replace when the upper leather has cracked beyond restoration, or the structure of the shoe has collapsed. If in doubt, take them to a cobbler, they’ll give you an honest opinion.
